A time to be greedy and a time to be smart

While greed can be good, too much of it can be a bad thing.

In the past 10 years, I’ve been involved in two separate industries, real estate investing and information marketing, which are probably two of the most competitive and cutthroat businesses on the planet. While both are very lucrative, they have one common trait that almost every other business on the planet has… They require you to interact with people.

And this is where the challenge begins for most folks.  You’ve heard the sayings:

“It’s a dog eat dog world”

“Step on whoever you have to succeed”

“I’ll do whatever it takes to win”

We have all heard someone utter one of these phrases before. You may even be guilty of it yourself; I know I was at one point. There’s nothing wrong with having a strong desire to succeed, but in some cases your willingness to “do whatever it takes” could actually be the whole reason why you have NOT become successful yet.

If you want to the real secret to success, all you need to do is look beyond yourself and figure out what you can do to help others.

If you think this sounds a bit crazy at first, it’s OK. I did at one point as well, until it witnessed it with my own eyes. Stay with me for a minute here…

Think about people you have to interact with on a day-to-day, week to week basis. Brokers, Bankers, Realtors… How can you help their businesses grow and achieve more? Or even just make their lives easier?

Your strongest asset in any business is its relationships, whether it’s with their customers, clients, vendors, or strategic partners.

More importantly stop worrying about what you can do to help yourself and start thinking about how your actions can help others and you’ll be amazed at how many opportunities begin to appear. The most successful people in the world understand that secret to success is helping others; it’s really just that simple.

The best part is…

You might just influence the world to do more.

Try it in your business for the next 90 days. I guarantee that you’ll create more opportunities for yourself, build better relationships and even feel better about how you do business and are contributing to the world.

If you’re still reading this, then you’re a person capable of doing great things, believe in what you can accomplish, the money will come; it’s infinite.

Be hungry, not greedy… Fuel yourself with greatness.

And ask yourself:

“What can I do today that will help others around me succeed”

While my day to day life is drastically different than it was 30 days ago, I continue to look for ways to help others. Even though there’s nothing in it for me, I find it incredibly rewarding in so many ways. I hope you’ve found a bit of inspiration in my words. If you’ve enjoyed this post, please share it with others. Also I’d love to hear what you plan on doing to help someone else, post a comment below!
