Faith, has 11 year old son, who is blind in his right eye. She gets a disability check because of his condition. Faith lost her job, then her house and car. She can work again if she had a car. We are assisting her in getting transportation so that she can provide a place to live.

Dan, has four kids, all under the age of 10. His 1990 Acura Legend needs over $2,000 in repairs (the car is worth about $1,500). Both he and his girlfriend were laid-off so they can’t afford to fix the car. We are assisting him in getting a vehicle so that he can work. It’s been taking him over two hours on the bus just to try to work for some temporary jobs.

: Just a TV?

This was probably the easiest one to assist. She just asked for a television. In fact it was so easy I had to find out more about Melanie. It turns out, she needs more but didn’t want to ask. She was laid-off in the floral business. She has two children, 18 and 12. The TV was for her older daughter. She has a car, but it doesn’t run. Thanks to a friend, we were able to give her a television. She asked for nothing else but I did give her a gift certificate at Wal-Mart and she cried and hugged me. She was very thankful for such a nice gesture.

Jerrie & Michelle

The mother, Jerrie, called me from Missouri. She has some relative in Las Vegas that saw my ad and said that she should call me. Jerrie was calling on behalf of her daughter, Michelle. Michelle has two kids, 11 and 10 with no father figure present. Neither Jerrie or Michelle are working as things are very difficult in Carl Junction, Missouri. Michelle is about to lose her house and doesn’t know where to go since her mom is not in any better of a financial condition to assist.

Lorraina

Lorraina, has five children, three under the age of 18. Her husband worked in construction, unfortuantely without a license. After several warnings, he was placed in the detention center. He can now be released on house arrest, but they don’t have a house anylonger! Lorraina’s company was sold then she was laid-off. She started at another company, then laid-off. She received an eviction notice on Christmas Eve and is currently staying at weekly motel.

Santa (that’s her name)

Santa has two children, one living in Mexico, and her daughter (7 yrs old) lives with her. Ironically, Santa's ex-boyfriend is a good dad but a lousy boyfriend for many reasons. She worked in the marketing department of a timeshare company but was laid off. She was packing up their studio apartment as she will be evicted on Monday. She has not made her car payment so she is in jeopardy of losing her vehicle as well. Her mother helps as much as she can but mom can only do so much. It's difficult for Santa to get help from her family. We gave her a Christmas tree for her daughter last week with some decorations. We were able to give her a gift card and will assist her in getting a job in the timeshare business. The job should help her get back on her feet within a month. Santa was so excited over the gift card and assistance that she hugged and cried on my shoulder for over 20 minutes. (I don't even hug my wife for 20 seconds). She felt so much better to express her frustrations because she has stayed so strong for her daughter. Santa now feels there is some hope and will keep on fighting. Thank you.

Maurice

Maurice, with his wife and two teenage boys (not pictured) are financially struggling. His wife, has ovarian cancer and should have been operated on last month. However, Maurice has not been able to work because he was taking care of his mom in Wisconsin. Previously, he was a limo and bus driver in Las Vegas and received a few automobile infractions. His driver's license in now suspended and it will cost over $1,500 for it to be activated. Without a driver's license, he is still able to work but can't find a job. The family cannot afford for their mom to take off six weeks to recover from the surgery. Back in 1998, as a bus driver, Maurice was shot SIX times, he died twice on the way to the hospital. He feels that if he lived through that experience, he can live through anything.

Lynn

Lynn's husband pasted away in 2005 from diabetes. She is originally from Jamaica but decided to come to Las Vegas after her husband's death because she thought that there were more opportunities out here. She lives with a family member, but since she is not "legal" it's difficult for her to find work. She has not seen her two new grandchildren since they were born. With your assistance, we paid for her to go see her family for the first time in over three years! You should have heard how happy her family was when they found out that she will arrive before New Year's.
